If the door lifts easily by hand after pulling the release cord, the problem is inside the opener, usually a stripped plastic drive gear. That is an inexpensive, very common repair. If the door is heavy to lift by hand, the opener is fine and you have a broken spring, in which case running the opener again risks damaging it.

Check the sensors first: both lights should be steady, not blinking. If they look fine, it is usually a force adjustment.
